Basic Photography Understanding your DSLR camera Introduction
Thank you for locating this page. If you arrived here you are pondering taking my class Understand Your DSLR which is hosted by the Derry Center for Adult Studies.
In the class we will be learning how to use our DSLR cameras. DSLR's have a lot of buttons, dials and toggle switches to control how your photos are created. So if you want to take the class it's important that you have a DSLR.
Not sure if your camera is a DSLR or a point-and-shoot camera?
One of the key indicators is, does your camera have interchangeable lenses? If your camera has a fixed lens to the camera body your camera is not a DSLR.
There's a lot of low end cameras in the market now that actually claim that they are DSLR’s but in reality they're hybrid cameras that have limited capabilities.
A full DSLR will have a larger sensor with higher quality pixel captures. A large selection of interchangeable lenses. Can operate with shutter remote and or wireless cable releases. Can operate with a range of strobes and external non-built-in flashes. DSLR’s are much better at low light performance and offer a broader range of custom settings.
If you're still not sure if your camera is a DSLR you're welcome to email or call me, Jill Kyle at 603-289-9504 or info@jillKylePhoto.com.
Thank you for your interest and I'm excited to see you in class!
